The mission of San José Clinic is to provide quality healthcare and education to those with limited access to such services in an environment which respects the dignity of each person.
Modeling Unique, Non-profit Healthcare
As one of the oldest charity clinics in the United States, San José Clinic has provided healthcare to the uninsured since 1922. It is the only full-time clinic in the Greater Houston area dedicated exclusively to serving the uninsured. In this area, primary healthcare for the uninsured is grossly inadequate, and specialty care is almost non-existent. Because of the Clinic's extensive corps of volunteers and teaching affiliations, patients are able to access specialty services in addition to primary healthcare.
The Clinic provides pharmacy and lab services at no additional charge to patients--an advantageous resource given the skyrocketing cost of medications. This model of care is extremely cost effective due to the utilization of volunteer physicians and donated pharmaceuticals.
